Want to Seize the day?
Own your morning!
To seize your day, and own your morning, start with gratitude. When you wake up in the morning do your best to wake up with a smile, a positive mental attitude and wake up with gratitude. I like to start with being stoked for the aliveness inside and working my way out from there. I’m grateful for my mind and body and its ability to function and improve. As well, I’m grateful for my basics ( food, shelter, clothing). I’m grateful for my family and friends. I have gratitude for my home, community and country and the opportunity that awaits in this day. I have many gratitudes, too much to list here. But you get the idea.
A Few Questions
Secondly, to own your morning, create a new morning routine. First, take some time out, in the evening before bed, and answer a few questions for yourself. These questions will help guide you to seize the day moving forward.
If you could have the most amazing day tomorrow what would it be like? Imagine how you would feel?
How would you act? What would your attitude be?
What would be your response to stressful situations?
How much energy would you have?
Use these questions as a starting point to help you figure out the ingredients to your new morning routine and guide the creation of your day.
A Good Habit Made EASY
An easy way you can motivate yourself for your morning is to set it up before you go to sleep. Therefore create a good habit and make it a routine. Here is my morning routine, I’ll share with you as an example. I find a 30-minute workout in the morning followed by a review of my mission statement and a 15-20 minute meditation works awesome for me. Do I always want to work out first thing in the morning? NO, at least not initially, so my lesser self mind looks for ways to hesitate and squirm out of it. But, if I make it easy to do, it takes much of the hesitation away. So the night before I set out my workout clothes where I’ll almost stumble over them when I get out of bed. I mentally visualize myself being stoked doing my work out when I get up. This makes it an easy decision to make and not cop out. Now it’s a good habit made easy.
Benefits
This routine benefits me tremendously. It gives my body the energy outlet it needs. This helps me to get in the state of being to be most effective and present throughout my day. It helps me intuitively answer the previous questions and create the circumstances to make that awesome day happen. I find I see more opportunities and options and have a much more chill, in the zone, perception on the days I do this routine as opposed to the days I miss it.
Carpe Diem! Seize the day! make it your day. Remember to do what works for you where you are at fitness wise and routine wise. If you wake up half sick or tired, just get going and do what you can. Don’t conclude you can’t do it if you don’t quite nail it the first few times. You can always adjust your routine and do better tomorrow. The key is developing a sustainable routine that works for you that helps you improve.
